News from Mid-India Missions (from email dated 4/8/09)

First of all, I would like to wish you a Happy Resurrection Day!

I haven’t had a chance to send information about us for sometime. I am thankful to many of you for your prayers and emails in which you have showed your concern and encouraged us.

We haven’t received any other phone calls, but through our personal efforts, have somewhat ideas of the possibility of who is behind all this. The group of people who are linked with certain groups seems to be very active.

We have returned from Delhi a couple of days back. After returning, we had a few other inquiries from the Government one after another. These inquiries were mainly about the information of the evangelistic activities. They want to know the names of each and every evangelist linked with the mission. Their names along with the addresses of their areas of work along with the impact that they have made in their community. We have appeared in front of the Government official regarding this matter. Efforts are to do anything to stop us from reaching people.

We are asked to produce the records of the mission from the year 2006. Will be working on the other reports that they have asked for about the next three weeks. Amidst this I have my commitment to preach in Jabalpur in preaching meetings from 6th through to the 12th of April. We are expecting a good gathering. Jabalpur is a place where in the past two years; several incidents of persecution have taken place. I’ll be here till the Resurrection Day.

I would like to let you know that the Lord’s work continues to grow here and people seem to be more committed than ever before in continuing what God has entrusted upon them. There are times when I feel a bit discouraged, but it is wonderful to see how God strengthens us and uses us strongly for His Glory.

Many of you have responded at the time of the sudden death of Neelam’s mother. She had been very close to her mother. We thank all of you for your prayers.

Here is a brief report about the work.

JANUARY – 2009
A special service was organized on the 1st of January 2009 at the Church in Damoh. A number of people from the near-by areas attended the service.

Tammy from First Christian Church, Greenville was with the mission from the 3rd to the 11th of January. She is a student and while she was here, she visited different congregations and spent time with different ministries of the mission.

Relief work was carried out for the victims of persecution in the state of Orissa. Bibles and

Christian literature was also provided to them. Gradually the Churches are beginning to have their Sunday services.

In view of the progress of work in Mandla area, a new evangelist has been added for the ministry there. He is a graduate from the Mission’s Bible College.

A team from MRCC, brother Randall Jones, brother Randall Kovaluk, Mrs. Charmain Kovaluk and brother David Kovaluk, came to stay with the mission towards the end of January. They visited some of the congregations in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh. Brother Kovaluk spoke in area Churches while brother Jones preached at the mission very effectively. Their visit was an encouragement to us.

FEBRUARY – 2009
At Sagar, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, the Mission’s evangelist is working with great enthusiasm. About 15 people in village Piparia and Khairna have decided that they’ll soon accept Christ as their Savior.

Work is progressing well at Mansar in the state of Maharashtra. Two new areas, Wakodi and Khapa have been added for evangelistic activities.

The construction of the first floor at campus, “Acts” is in progress. This will serve as a dormitory for the children from persecuted families.

MARCH – 2009
Brother Cam Huxford, Brother Dave Steward and Mrs. Lynn Stewart from Savannah Christian Church came to visited the mission on the 19th and 20th of March. We were honored to have them here. Brother Cam and Dave led a one day Training Seminar involving Bible college students and Evangelists. They also met with the evangelists who have faced persecution in the state of Orissa and talked with them and encouraged them. Brother Cam also preached to the people of the congregation one evening at the Christian Outreach Center. During their visit they were also able to do the groundbreaking ceremony of the dormitory that is to be constructed for the children of persecuted Christians at the Campus, “Acts.” In Delhi, where Church planting efforts are being made, we are planning to start a Training Program for about 7 – 8 young people. We plan to train them to become evangelists. Some of these young people are already involved in other jobs, but also like to get involved in part time ministry work. This would allow us to reach a number of new areas.

FAME has helped us in building a clinic in Bilaspur in the state of Chhattisgarh. The building has been completed but not yet dedicated. However, we are using this facility to provide stay for the victims of persecution from Orissa who are coming to Bilaspur for treatment. We are also planning to have medical check-up camps soon for near-by areas. Work has shown progress in the state of Punjab. Two new preaching points have been started at court Isekhan and Khadoor. Four people have decided to accept Christ as their Savior last week.

Inspite of persecution in Orissa, people are coming forward. Recently 8 new people have decided that they’ll accept Christ as their Savior, but due to the tension in the area and election just ahead, they are waiting for appropriate time.

Mission’s Annual Meeting was held on the 5th & 6th of March. Evangelists and mission workers from different areas attended the meeting and shared their work.

A motorbike was given to the evangelist working in the state of Maharashtra and a van was given to the evangelist working in Bilaspur area where the mission is running its Satellite Center this month.
